to this court came Edw Hewson gentleman and Eliz his wife daughter and heir of Jn Lucas gentleman and Mary his wife both deceased and the said Eliz by the said steward first solely and secretly examined as is the custom and consenting the said Edw and Eliz by the rod surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of his said steward one parcel of land containing by estimation 6a and now or late divided into two parcels late parcel of a certain curtilage called Lowfield containing by estimation 16a lying between the meadow called Holme Meadow also Hall Meadow on the one part and the king's highway leading from Earls Colne towards Tey on the other part which premises the said Eliz after having the recovery thereof among others at this court first took for herself and her heirs to the use and behoof of Eliz Abbott fourth daughter of Hen Abbott of Earls Colne saymaker and the heirs and assigns of the said Eliz forever upon the sacred trust and faith that if the said Hen should outlive Rose his now wife and mother of the said Eliz and if the said Rose should die without heirs of her body by the said Hen begotten that any heirs of the said Eliz should surrender the premises according to the custom of the said manor to the use and behoof of the said Hen his heirs and assigns forever upon which the said Eliz came here into court by the said Hen as her attorney and deputy in this case and sought admittance as tenant of the premises to whom the same Eliz by the hands of her attorney and deputy the lord by his said steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said parcel of land containing by estimation about 6a with appurtenances to the said Eliz her heirs and assigns forever upon the said trust and confidence of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and she gave to the lord her fine
