Masons whereas at a court here held 4.4.1671 Mary wife of Jn Went was admitted to her and her heirs to one cottage now into two tenements divided adjoining the churchyard of Earls Colne now in the several occupations of     Smith widow and     Danish widow now at this court by the testament of the steward it was found by the homage that the said Jn Went and Mary his wife 24.6.23Chas2 appeared before Jn Eldred steward of the manor and surrendered into the lord's hands by the hands of the steward the said cottage and premises to the use of Jn Ellis of Earls Colne bricklayer his heirs and assigns for ever upon which to this court came the said Jn Ellis and humbly petitioned admittance to whom the steward delivered seisin etc to have and to hold the said cottage etc to the said Jn Ellis his heirs and assigns of the lord etc and he gave the lord for fine etc
