at a court held 9.3.1686 Roger Roote junior and wife Ann were admitted for their lives and the life of the longer liver and after their deaths to the use of the heirs of the body of the said Roger begotten on the body of the said Ann and for default of such just heirs to heirs and assigns of the said Roger forever to one cottage late built and one parcel land lying next the cemetery of the church of Earls Colne abutting onto a yard sometime Wm Bridge's and Rich Hatch junior's and now in the occupation of Xoph Parkinson now to this court came the said Roger and wife Ann first by the steward solely and secretly examined and consenting as law is surrender by the rod into the hand of the lord by the steward the said premises with appurtenances to the use of Geo Toller his heirs and assigns forever who present here in court admitted etc gave his fine fealty respited
