at a court held 26.3.1690 Mary Savill was admitted to her and heirs of her body with Eliz Savill her sister to certain customary lands with appurtenances called Bridgemans one head abutting onto land called Stanleys and Newmans to the east another head abutting onto land called Swannells to the south another head abutting onto the highway leading from Earls Colne to Colne Engayne to the west and the other head abutting onto the great river to the north containing by estimation 13a more or less held by annual rent 13s4d and also to those three parts all in four parts divided of said meadow or parcel land Pakes Gate Mead also Ringers with appurtenances lying near Colne Park containing by estimation 10a more or less and also to other fourth part of said meadow Pakes Gate Mead in four parts divided held by annual rent of 1s4d now at a court held 28.3.1694 said Mary Savill was admitted to her and her heirs after the death of said Eliz Savill to other half of the premises at this court it appears that said Mary Savill is an infant under twenty one years and on 12.3.1697 by virtue of an act of parliament held at Westminster 20.10.last bearing title an act for settling the estate of Mary Savill an infant upon her marriage surrendered by the rod into the hands of the lord by the hand of Jn Payne instead of the bailiff in the presence of Dan Nightingell and Jn Pratt two customary tenants they testifying according to custom of manor all the said premises with appurtenances and all customary lands tenements and hereditaments of Mary Savill held of the said manor by copy of court roll to the sole use of Wm Russell esq for his life and after his death to use of Mary Savill for her life and after death of longest liver of Wm Russell and Mary Savill then to the use of the first son of the body of Mary Savill legitimately procreated by Wm Russell and then to the heirs of the body of the said son legitimately born and for default of such heirs to the use of second third fourth fifth sixth and all other sons or daughters of the body of Mary Savill and Wm Russell legitimately procreated in their separate succession and in remainder one after another in order and course from the eldest and firstborn to the separate and respective heirs of second third fourth fifth and sixth and other sons and daughters legitimately born from the eldest to the youngest and for defect of such heirs to use of all the sons and daughters of Mary Savill and Wm Russell legitimately procreated and the heirs of such sons and daughters and for defect of such heirs to the heirs of the body of Mary Savill and Wm Russell legitimately procreated and for default of such then to use of Wm Russell his heirs and assigns forever which Wm Russell and said Mary now his wife humbly petition of the lord to be admitted to the said premises according to the tenor and effect of the said surrender Wm appearing in his own person and Mary by Wm Russell her husband in role of attorney or deputy the lord by his steward granted delivery of seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said premises to Wm Russell for life and after his death to Mary for life and after the death of the survivor of them to such uses and limitations in the above surrender limited and apportioned of the lord etc fealty respited
