at a court held 31.3.1691 Hen Abbutt esq was admitted to him and heirs to one tenement called Filbrids Lophams and Windmillhill and parcel of land to it belonging containing 2r more or less and at a court held 27.12.1706 said Hen Abbutt was admitted to him and heirs to one croft of land Walnuttree Croft with appurtenances now to this court appears that said Hen Abbutt after last court died seised and that in his life last 7.7.1710 surrendered by rod into hands of lord by hand of Solomon Grimston now deputy steward of the manor in place of the bailiff in presence of Gilb Smith gentleman and Hen Adams junior two customary tenants all and singular his customary messuages tenements lands and hereditaments which said Hen Abbutt held of this manor to such use as would be declared in his last will in writing then came here into court Rose Abbutt eldest daughter of said Hen Abbutt and produced here in court last will of Hen Abbutt her father dated 20.8.1710 in following english words item I give and bequeath unto my eldest daughter Rose Abbutt and her heirs forever all that my messuage or tenement with the lands and hopgrounds and orchards thereunto belonging situate lying and being in Earls Colne which I bought of Hen Adams with the malting office and buildings thereupon erected and also all my copyhold messuages lands and tenements with their appurtenances situate lying and being in Earls Colne aforesaid except such as are settled upon my son Hen as by the said will plainly appears thereupon Rose Abbutt present here in court humbly petitions etc admitted to all and singular said premises etc fealty respited
