at a court held 10.6.1707 Thos Payne and Susan his wife were admitted for lives and then to longer liver to one barn and 30a land more or less situate in Earls Colne then in occupation Thos Cockrill (may be Thos Cockrill) and now in occupation of Math Newman now at this court it appears to the homage that said Thos Payne and Susan his wife 16.1. last past came before the deputy steward and she Susan by deputy steward first solely and secretly examined and consenting as law is surrendered by rod into hand of lord by hand of deputy steward the barn and 30a land more or less called or known by name of Mitchells with appurtenances and all other the customary lands and tenements of said Thos Payne and Susan his wife or either of them held of the manor to sole and proper use of Edw Cressener citizen of London tobacconist his heirs and assigns forever the said Edw Cressener by Jn Cressener esq in role of attorney or deputy humbly petitions etc admitted to the premises etc fealty respited until etc
