at a court held on 30.4.1729 Hen Adams elder a customary tenant of manor in open court surrendered by rod into hand of lord by hand of steward all and singular his copyhold messuages lands and tenements held of the manor to use of his last will in writing now at this court the homage present the death of said Hen Adams and before his death he made his last will dated 11.3.1733 and by same devised his copyhold tenements as follows I give and devise unto my son Jn Adams and his heirs my copyhold tenement with the appurtenances called the Taverne situated in Earls Colne and holden of the said manor now in the occupation of Jane Paine widow whereupon comes into court Jn Adams and crave etc the lords by steward granted delivery of seisin by rod etc by rent of 4s8d and services gave the lord fine etc
