also homage find that on 21.4.1738 Jn May a customary tenant of manor did out of court surrender by rod into hand of lord by hand and acceptance of steward according to custom of manor all that messuage or tenement with garden and curtilage adjoining called Sonningwells with appurtenances in Earls Colne in tenure of Jos Bott and all that part of a tenement called Tabors which said Jos Botts holds and also all that parcel of land called Dovehouse Field and one other parcel of land called Pond Croft containing altogether 14a by estimation more or less with appurtenances to use of Palgrave Barlee of Clavering in Essex esq his heirs and assigns forever provided that Jn May his heirs executors etc shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid the said Palgrave Barlee his executors administrators or assigns 160li lawful money on 22.10.next with interest for the same after rate of 4li10s in the hundred then surrender to be void or otherwise remain absolute
