whereas at a court held for the manor 22.4.1737 Robt Godfrey a customary tenant of manor did in full and open court surrender by the rod into hands of lords by hands and acceptance of Jn Wale elder esq steward then all that his customary messuage or tenement with yards orchards and appurtenances late in tenure of Jn Chaplin situate in a lane called Colne Lane leading from Earls Colne towards Coggeshall to use of his last will in writing
