also at this court it is found by the homage that Wm Sewell younger of Halsted in Essex a customary tenant of manor did on 16.10.last surrender by rod into hands of lords by hands and acceptance of Rich Wale gentleman steward all messuage or tenement and garden called Skinners otherwise the Kings Head also all that croft of lands with houses thereon built with a barn or orchard called Burtons Barn or Burtons Garden with free ingress and egress to and from the same in by and through a croft of land called Bearcroft from the highway leading to Colchester through the gates there to the said barn or orchard also all that tenement called Gentries and also all those three crofts of land containing 12a more or less called Broom Crofts also all that croft of land containing 11a with a chaseway leading to said croft also all that meadow parcel of Bearcroft containing 3a more or less with all appurtenances as the premises are situate in Earls Colne in tenure or occupation of Sam Smith surgeon Jn Bullard and Sarah Hassell held by copy of court roll to use of Thos Bernard of Earls Colne clerk his heirs or assigns redeemable on payment of 250li and interest to said Thos Bernard his executors administrators or assigns on 17.4.next ensuing the date thereof
