at this court Jn Masonne of Earls Colne and Rose his wife levy a certain plaint of a plea of land against Jn Stonewin protesting to prosecute that plaint in the nature of a brief of non disseisin etc at this day came the parties aforesaid in their proper persons and demand against the said Jn Stoneweine one messuage and 10a of land with appurtenances which the same Jn Stonewen hath unjustly deforced them from and whereupon the said Jn Mason and Rose his wife plaint that one Rich Redinge and Sarah his wife who were the father and mother of Felice Jolden viz the mother of the said Rose seised of the said messuage and 10a of land in their demesne as of fee of the right according to the custom of the manor in the time of peace of Henry the fifth and an esplee thereof begun thereof etc viz in corn herbage wood and other profits issuing out of the messuage and 10a etc amounting even to the value of 20s and more from the same Felice Jolden descendeth the right thereof by farm to the same Jn Mason and Rose his wife who now implead as daughter and next heir etc of Felice Jolden etc whereupon the said Jn Stonewen hath not any ingress but by etc and the said Jn came in his proper person and defended the wrong and injury and the right of the said Jn and Rose etc and further he saith that the said Jn and Rose his wife ought not to maintain this action against him because he saith the said Rich and Sarah his wife were not the father and mother of the said Felice but that she was the daughter to one Jn Joldaine and not the daughter of the said Rich and Sarah and hereupon he putteth himself upon the homage etc whereupon the said Jn Mason and Rose his wife maintain their action against him and the said Jn and Rose say that the said Rich and Sarah were the father and mother of the said Felice as they have before showed in their declaration and hereof they put themselves on the homage and since that at this court the jurors being exacted viz Wm Attewood Jn Hyne Thos Kelet Jn Maldon Wm Prodeman Jn Wright of Colford Hill Jn Soneld Wm Atte Frethe Rich Habraham Jn Atte Parke Jn Passemer and Thos Bonyle who being chosen tried and sworn to speak the truth upon the premises say upon their oath that the said Felice was the daughter of Rich and Sarah as alleged by Jn Mason and Rose his wife in pleading therefore it is decreed by the consideration of the court that the foresaid Jn Mason and Rose his wife shall recover their seisin of the foresaid messuage and 10a of land with appurtenances against the foresaid Jn Stonewin and the foresaid Jn Stonewyn is in mercy
