fine 2s | at this court Wm Atte Fryth out of court languishing in extremis surrendered into the hands of Jn Turnor bailiff of this manor in the presence of Wm Atte Wod Thos Prince and other tenants of the lord the same testifying and witnessing one messuage with garden adjoining with its appurtenances lying between a messuage of Wm Atte Wod on one part and a messuage of Thos Segge chaplain on the other part one head abutting upon the king's highway leading from Earls Colne towards Halsted to the use of Jn Tredgold Wm Clerk and Alice who was lately the wife of the said Wm upon this condition however that the aforesaid Jn Wm and Alice or their attorneys should sell by licence of the lord and with the money therefrom arising dispose of it in this manner to pay Jn householder in Colne and the son of the said Wm 26s8d and the aforesaid Alice 26s8d and the remainder to find one suitable mass for a chaplain in the church of the aforesaid Colne for the soul of the said Wm and for all his good works to whom the lord now at this court granted thereof seisin to hold to the same their heirs and assigns from the lord at the will of the lord by ancient services and customs etc and on the aforesaid condition and they gave to the lord for a fine etc and made fealty |
