fine 16d | at this court Jn Tredegold Wm Clerk and Ann late wife of Wm Atte Freth in her pure widowhood out of court surrendered into the hands of Jn Turnor bailiff of this manor in the presence of Jn Cook tailor Edm Golding and other of the lord's tenants one messuage with garden adjoining sometime of Jn Ballard lying between a messuage of Roger Deynes on one part and a messuage of Thos Segge on the other to the use of Jn Hawcon and Agnes his wife Robt Sebryth and Jn Cook upon this condition however that the aforesaid Jn Haucon and Agnes his wife Robt and Jn or their attorneys should pay of cause to be paid 5marks 6s8d sterling at the feast of the nativity of st john baptist 1425 after the date of this court to the aforesaid Jn Tredgold and Wm Clerk or their attorneys to whom the lord now at this court granted thereof seisin to hold to the same said Jn Hawcon and Agnes his wife Robt and Jn the heirs and assigns of the said Jn Hawcon from the lord at the will of the lord by ancient services and customs etc and upon the aforesaid condition and if it should happen that the aforesaid Jn and Agnes his wife Robt and Jn or their attorneys should default in the aforesaid payment of the aforesaid 5marks 6s8d sterling in part or in whole at the aforesaid terms or for four weeks after then truly it should be allowed to the aforesaid Jn Tredgold and Wm or their attorneys by licence from the lord to reenter the aforesaid messuage with appurtenances and to retain it notwithstanding this surrender otherwise it should stand in full force and right and they gave to the lord for a fine etc and made fealty etc |
