Earls Colne escheat inquisition Robt Smyth clerk inquisition whereas at a court here held on the friday next after michaelmas 3.10.17Edw3 Jn Harefryth came and took from the lord one plot of land built upon lying between land of Jn Gosse on one part and a brick tenement which same said plot of land was seized into the hands of the lord by reason of escheat after the death of Alex Baker and Christine his wife who died without heirs of themselves to hold to the aforesaid Jn for his lifetime returning thereof annually to the lord 22d as new rent and 2d as ancient rent at the usual terms etc item inquisition(inserted) Jn Fuller came and by the lord's licence let to Robt Atte Nook one croft of enclosed land containing 2a2r for a term of four years etc item Jn Wynter and Robt Copyn now of Robt Smyth clerk of Colne Engaine(inserted) came and surrendered into the hands of the lord all that plot of land with dwelling houses built thereon lying between the cemetery of Colne on one part and a curtilage of Jn Gosse on the other part and the lord granted and handed over the aforesaid plot of land with buildings thereupon built to the aforesaid Jn to hold to himself for his lifetime from the lord by the services and customs etc thus after the decease of Jn himself the aforesaid croft should revert to the aforesaid Jn and Robt their heirs and assigns etc item Robt Atte Hale came and surrendered into the hands of the lord one plot of land with a building which accrued to him after the death of Ralph his brother next to a tenement of Robt Gosse to the use of Jn Prat chaplain and Jn Squyer to whom etc to hold to the same their heirs and assigns by the services and customs etc
