Earls Colne Robt Sebryth Jn Soneld Jn Atte Park heriot heriot inquisition heriot inquisition Jn Panell heriot Jn Bovyll chaplain escheat Jn Wrygth | whereas at a court here held on saturday 28.9.35Edw3 Margery Mason now Robt Sebrytg (inserted) came into court and sought admittance to one messuage with appurtenances which same said messuage Rich Mason of whom Margery herself was lately wife surrendered into the hands of the lord to the use of the said Margery to hold for her entire lifetime by the services and customs saving the right etc thus that after the decease of Margery herself the aforesaid messuage with appurtenances should remain to the rightful heir etc item Jn son of Walt Wrygth now of Jn Soneld (inserted) came into court and gave to the lord for a fine for a rightful inquisition concerning one croft of land in Colne whereof Joan mother of the same said Jn died seised concerning the right of the said Jn and it was shown by the whole homage that the said Jn was the next heir of the same said Joan therefore he was admitted to the said land and he gave to the lord a relief of 7s8d etc item inquisition(inserted) Jn Welleman came and surrendered into the hands of the lord one plot of land built on with one grange and one carthouse lying next to the cemetery to the use of Wm Welleman to whom etc to hold to himself and his heirs by the services and customs etc item it was shown by an inquisition that Nich Atte Park now Jn Atte Park (inserted) died etc who held one messuage and 3a of land whereof there was heriot of one ox valued at 10s etc item inquisition(inserted) it was said that Rich Mason died etc who held from the lord one messuage in the market place there whereof there was for heriot one pig valued at 2s etc item Wm Pynel inquisition(inserted) died etc who held from the lord one cottage with garden whereof there was for heriot one ewe valued at 12d etc item that Robt Barbor now Jn Panell (inserted) died etc who held from the lord 40a of free land whereof one land was called Wolveton and the other Daweslond whereof there is heriot and the aforesaid lands proferred in returns item now Jn Boville chaplain(inserted) it was said that Jn Atte Nook the lord's bondsman died etc who held one messuage and 12a of customary land whereof the heriot was nothing because Agnes his wife is joint owner in the aforesaid tenement etc and gave to the lord for a relief 3s3d etc item it was presented to seize into the hands of the lord Jn Wrygth as shown(inserted) one tenement called Peckes which was sometime of Robt Turnor by way of escheat to the said lord because Jn the son and heir of the said Robt died without heir etc which said Robt as was shown by the whole homage was a bastard and returned the profits until etc and upon this came Robt Mille and took from the lord the aforesaid tenement with the reversion of two meadows of the same said tenement which were available for 13s4d and they were granted to him to hold to himself and his heirs by the services and customs etc |
