Colne Engaine Lance Perye Earls Colne Jn March junior Jn Roger Wm Atte Wod Hen Nicoll and Alice were admitted for their lifetimes Colne Engayne Lance Perye Feryne Nich Bullok as stated whereas at a court with view here held on thursday 7.10.41Edw3 at that same court Rich Stepvene and Xian his wife and Jn their son the lord's bondsmen came and showed a certain deed made according to the form of the statute concerning 5a of land purchased of Wm Wrygth now Lance Perye (inserted) of Little Colne lying between lands of Lance Hochet on one part and lands late of Jn Heirde and abutting at the furthest head upon lands of the said Lance to have and to hold to the aforesaid Rich and Xian and Jn their son and the assigns of the said Jn of the chief etc dated at the aforesaid Colne on the wednesday in michaelmas 2.10.16Edw3 therefore it was presented to seize into the hands of the lord etc and to return of the profits etc and afterwards came the said Rich and showed his deed and sought admittance in the manner as above to whom it was granted thereof seisin to hold at the will of the lord and to give an increase in rent of 1d etc item concerning the issue of a tenement of Brokkeleyghes Tenement 2s etc item it was shown by an inquisition that Margery Brokkeygh sometime held one cottage with curtilage adjoining and surrendered the said cottage into the hands of the lord to the use of Adam Smyth and Margery his wife now held by Jn March (inserted) and the heirs between them legitimately procreated and if they should die without heirs etc after their death the said cottage etc was seized into the hands of the lord now came Jn Gowle and sought the said cottage as his right and inheritance and he gave to the lord for a rightful inquisition as shown etc and upon this the inquisition being taken it was said now Jn Roger (inserted) that the said Jn Gowle is the son and heir of Joan Gowle sister and one of the heirs of the aforesaid Margery to whom it was granted etc to hold to himself and his heirs by the services etc item Steph de Bery now Wm Atte Wod (inserted) gave to the lord for a fine because he alienated his tenement by deed without licence so that he retook seisin of the afor esaid tenement etc item Wm Gosse brother of Jn Gossereve surrendered into the hands of the lord one croft of land called Moltephigthell with its appurtenances to the use of Jn Kebyl to whom etc to hold to himself and his heirs by the services and customs etc item Thos Smyth came now Hen Nicoll (inserted) and surrendered into the hands of the lord 2r of meadow lying in the village of Colne between a meadow of Adam Boteler on one part and a meadow of Jn Gossereve on the other to the use of Alice Adam to whom etc to hold to the same said Alice for her lifetime by the services and customs etc item whereas there it was presented on 7.10.39Edw3 at a court here held to seize into the hands of the lord one croft of land containing 4a2r now Lance Perye (inserted) called Netherfeld lying in Colne Engaine and similarly to seize and to distrain for 4d annual rent owed issuing of a piece of curtilage lying next to the aforesaid croft in the aforesaid village which same said land and rent Rich Stepvene the lord's bondsman purchased in 22Edw3 of Rich Savage of the aforesaid Colne concerning which same said land and rent the lord earl was seized now came the same said Rich and showed his certain deed of right of the aforesaid purchase and sought admittance to the said land to hold to himself and his heirs to whom it was granted thereof seisin etc and he gave and increase of 1d annual rent etc item Rich Stepvene came and sought admittance to one messuage and 20a of land in the village of Feryng which was seized into the hands of the lord because the said Rich took to wife the daughter of Thos Dyment which said tenement he held for a term on her behalf by a grant and concession of Gilb le Herde and because the same said Rich gave in marriage Robt his son and Matilda daughter and heir of the said Xian to whom the aforesaid tenement should have descended by right of inheritance etc to whom it was granted thereof seisin to hold from the lord at the will etc and he gave for an increase of rent one capon etc and afterwards Nich Bullok of Feryng held
