the abbot of St John of Colchester | whereas at a court here held on thursday next after the conception of the blessed mary 9.12.24Edw3 it was presented to seize into the hands of the lord 12a of land with appurtenances which Hugh of Feryng alienated to the abbot of St John Colchester and which alienation was given by mortmain etc and the aforesaid 12a of land lying in the field called Dysteleye next to the Grenestret on one part and land called Crakemonlond one head abutting upon land called Grenestedlond which lands were held from the lord earl of Oxford by the service of 4s annual rent and by homage etc therefore it was presented to the bailiff to distrain the tenants of the land of the said abbot against the next to show by what right they entered into the lord's fee and to satisfy the lord for a relief and to make homage to the lord earl etc |
