fine 6s8d condition and at this same court it is shown by the homage that Thos Moordon Ralph Audele Jn Ashford and Jn Smyth of Earls Colne who held their estate with Jeff Teillere now deceased surrendered into the hands of Wm Kyrwyn the lord's tenant in the absence of the bailiff in the presence of Ralph Kebbyll Wm Nobele vicar of this village and other tenants of the lord the same testifying according to the custom of the manor one capital messuage with two shops with appurtenances sometime of Roger Moordon grandfather of the said Thos Moordon as it lies opposite the sometime pillory there except for two crofts of land previously sold and one cottage parcel of the said messuage as it lies there at the edge of the two shops of the said Thos Moordon and its appurtenances and reserved forever to his assigns in such a manner to the use of Jn Kene Joan his wife Jn William Steph Bageruk and Thos Martyn and their heirs to whom the lord by his steward granted thereof seisin to hold to the same said Jn Kene Joan his wife Jn William Steph Bageruk and Thos Martin excepting the exceptions from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor by the ancient services and customs and upon the divers following conditions viz that the aforesaid Jn Kene or his attorney should pay or cause to be paid to the aforesaid Thos Moordon or his attorney 20marks of legal english money in this form viz each year 26s8d similarly at the feast of xmas.next after the date of this court 6s8d and at the feast of easter then next coming 6s8d and at the feast of the nativity of st john baptist next 6s8d and at the feast of michaelmas next 6s8d or within fifteen days after any of the above named feasts thereof in equal proportions until the aforesaid 20marks in ten years each year at the above named feasts as put down or within fifteen days after should be faithfully and completely paid that then this surrender should stand in its effect in the future and if there should be default in any year at any of the above named feasts of any of the aforesaid payments which ought to be paid in the above named form the said Thos Moordon or his assigns being unpaid or the money in arrears and not paid in part or in whole that then it should be allowed to the aforesaid Thos Moordon and his attorney on default of the payments thereof to reenter into the aforesaid capital messuage and shops with their appurtenances and to rehold them and retain them and enjoy them the surrender thereof previously made should be void notwithstanding and should mean nothing in the future and they gave to the lord for fine for having such estate thereof as shown in the margin and made fealty to the lord etc
