fine 16d and it was shown by the homage that Jn Noke Jn Ashford and Jn Tredgold out of court surrendered into the hands of Ralph Audele the lord's tenant in the absence of the bailiff in the presence of Wm Kyrwyn Jn Scott and other tenants of the lord the same testifying according to the custom of the manor one cottage with curtilage adjoining with appurtenances sometime of Thos Bovill and afterwards of Ralph Noke as it lies opposite the pillory between a tenement of Wm Bome on one part and a tenement of Jn Smyth on the other part one head thereof abutting upon the king's highway leading from Halsted towards Colchester the other upon a croft of Thos Segge chaplain to the use of Jn William and Robt Smyth to whom the lord by his steward granted there of seisin to hold to them and their assigns from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor by the ancient services and customs etc saving the right etc and they gave to the lord for a fine etc and made fealty etc
