and it is found by the homage that Walt Tidder who had estate jointly with Robt Gernon deceased on and in one cottage with a garden adjoining sometime Jn Lavenham's out of the court surrendered into the lord's hands by the hands of Wm Choppet clerk vicar of Colne the lord's tenant in the presence of Robt Matteras and Hen Pullen the lord's tenants the same witnessing according to the custom of the manor the said cottage with the appurtenances to the use of Alice Gernon and Wm Choppet clerk their heirs and assigns to whom there is seisin thereof delivered by the rod to hold to the same Alice and Wm their heirs and assigns to the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor doing and it is considered by the court on the behalf of the said Alice being under age and by the agreement of Margt Gernon next heir after the said Alice because that the said cottage is in great decay that if the said Wm Choppet clerk shall do or cause to be done any reparations about the said cottage that thenceforth he shall hold the said cottage with the appurtenances and receive the profits and issues coming thereof until he be fully satisfied and contented for his expenses of the said cottage or hereafter to be had and expended etc and he gave the lord for fine
