to this court came Rich Rolte son and heir of Thos Rolte and by the lord's licence gave and granted to one Joan Rolte late wife of Thos Rolte deceased a certain annuity of yearly rent of 6li of good and usual money of England yearly issuing and coming of all those his customary lands and tenements called Sonells Bredgemans Boultinghouse Croft and Clerkes and Warkmans severally lying in Earls Colne aforesaid holden as well of the lord of this manor as of the manor of Colne Priory by copy of court roll to have hold and enjoy the foresaid annuity or yearly rent of 6li to the foresaid Joan during the whole term of her life at four terms of the year viz at feast of the birth of john baptist michaelmas xmas and annunciation to be paid by even portions and if it happen the said annuity of yearly rent of 6li to be behind and unpaid in part of in whole by the space of four days after any feast of the feasts aforesaid in which it ought to be paid that then it shall be lawful to the same Joan and her assigns into the foresaid lands tenements messuages and other the premises and into every parcel thereof to enter and distrain and the distraint so there taken lawfully to drive and carry away and with her to detain and if it be needful within eight days following to sell until the said annuity or yearly rent and every parcel thereof together with the damages and costs by that occasion had be to the same Joan or her assigns fully contented satisfied and paid
