fine 2s Charles Paynes Cottage it is found by the homage that Jn Pennocke out of the court and since the last court surrendered into the lord's hands by the hands of Jn Barret and Rich Rolte two of the lord's tenants and other the same witnessing one cottage with a garden adjoining called Charles Paynes lying in Colne aforesaid viz between the churchyard of the one part toward the north and the way leading to Colne Park on the other part toward the south one head thereof abutting upon the church green toward the east and the other thereof abutting upon the halleyard toward the west as etc to the use and behoof of Thos Turner his heirs and assigns which Thos being present in court came and prayed to be admitted thereunto and because etc therefore etc to whom etc to hold etc and hereupon in this present court came the foresaid Thos and surrendered into the lord's hands the foresaid cottage with the garden adjoining called Charles Paynes to the use and behoof of Hen Smythe his heirs and assigns who being present in court came and prayed to be admitted thereunto and he is admitted the lord's tenant thereof to whom by the steward there is seisin thereof delivered to hold to him his heirs and assigns of the lord by the rod etc and he giveth fine etc and made fealty
