fine 13li6s8d but only 3li thereof to be paid until it be known whether the surrender be void or no at this court it is certified by Thos Gent esq head steward of this manor and found by the homage that Thos Bridge and Ann his wife came before the foresaid head steward out of court and since the last court viz 16.7.23Eliz1 the said Ann being alone and secretly examined by the foresaid steward her husband standing by and surrendered into the lord's hands by the hands of the same steward one piece or parcel of customary land with appurtenances and one meadow with appurtenances called Rushmeddowe containing in the whole by estimation 16a or more etc and one croft of land called Spowtecroft alias Rycroft containing by estimation 4a or more etc to the use and behoof of Jn Hicks of Great Waldingfield in the county of Suffolk yeoman his heirs and assigns on form and condition following viz that if the foresaid Thos Bridge and Ann his wife or one of them or their heirs executors administrators or assigns of either of them pay or cause to be paid unto the said Jn Hicks his executors administrators or assigns 100li of good and lawful money of England at the south porch of St Peter church in Sudbury in the county of Suffolk at the feast day of michaelmas.1584 that then this present surrender and seisin thereof delivered shall be void and be of none effect or otherwise shall stand and be in full power and force whereupon to this court came the foresaid Jn Hicks and humbly craved to be admitted to the premises according to the form and effect of the surrender and condition aforesaid to whom by the lord's steward there is seisin thereof delivered to have and to hold to him his heirs and assigns of the lord by the rod to the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor on the condition aforesaid etc by the rents and services etc
