fine 20li | it is found by the homage that Geof Cuckoke that held to him and his heirs of the lord by the rod etc one tenement and 26a of land and 3a1r of meadow called Curds as etc and also three crofts of land containing 15a whereof one is called Barmans Field another called Rowncyes and the other called Pellsland lying in Barmans Field as etc as by copy of court roll here holden 17.8.23Eliz1 more at large appears died before the last court and before his death lying on his death bed surrendered into the lord's hands by the hands of Jn Churche instead of the bailiff in the presence of Hen Smythe and Thos Allen the lord's customary tenants and other the same witnessing all the premises to the use and behoof of his last will and testament in writing by which he legacied the premises in these english words following viz and as touching any lands tenements or hereditaments either free or copy I will bequeath and demise all my lands tenements and hereditaments in Birch to Rose my wife during her life and after her decease to remain to Jn my eldest son and his heirs forever the residue of all my lands tenements and hereditaments whatsoever both free and copy within the realm of England I do give to Rose my wife and to her heirs forever as by the said will here shown to the court bearing date 14.1.1585 more at large appears whereupon now came the foresaid Rose late the wife of the said Geof Cuckoke and now coupled in matrimony with Robt Partridge and humbly prayed to be admitted to the premises according to the form and effect of the will and surrender aforesaid to whom by the lord's steward etc by the rents and services etc |
