it is also presented by the homage aforesaid that since the last court and before this court Thos Richolde surrendered into the lord's hands by the hands of Rich Smithe instead of the bailiff in the presence of Xoph Isaack and Edm Potter two customary tenants of this manor the same witnessing according to the custom of the same manor all the part or parcel of his customary tenement called Masons now in the tenure and occupation of Thos Richold and Jn Pollie to the use and behoof of Robt Rookes and his heirs for ever upon condition that if the said Thos Richold his executors administrators or assigns pay or cause to be paid to the said Robt Rookes his executors and assigns the same 3li10s of lawful money etc at the now dwelling house of the said Robt in Earls Colne aforesaid in or upon michaelmas next coming after the date of the said surrender the date whereof was 6.2.1592 without further delay that then the said surrender shall be void or otherwise shall stand and remain in full force and strength etc whereupon to this court came the foresaid Robt Rookes and prayed to be admitted to the premises according to the form of the surrender aforesaid to whom there is seisin thereof delivered to have and to hold to him and his heirs on the condition aforesaid of the lord by the rod to the will of the lord according to the cust om of the manor aforesaid by the rents services and customs therefore due and of right accustomed and he made fine 10s and fealty with the lord and is admitted tenant thereof
