fine 9swhereas at the leet with the court here held on monday being 24.7.34Eliz1 Rich Smith joiner was admitted the lord's tenant to him and his heirs to the east end of a certain customary tenement called Masons containing in length 27ft viz even to the hall together with a garden stable and yard lying on the north side and east side of the said tenement lying between the churchyard of the parish church of Earls Colne aforesaid and the highway leading from Earls Colne aforesaid towards Halstead as by the roll of the same court appeareth now it is presented by the homage of this court that the foresaid Rich Smith since the last court and out of court hath surrendered into the lord's hands by the hands of Edw Reade instead of the bailiff in the presence of Wm Adhams and Jn Greene two customary tenants of the manor the same witnessing according to the custom of the manor aforesaid one tenement or cottage as it is adjoined to a capital messuage lying in the churchyard of Colne aforesaid parcel of the premises containing in length 16ft6i and in breadth 17ft with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Robt Rookes the elder and his heirs to which Robt here present in court the lord by his steward aforesaid granted seisin thereof to have and to hold to him and his heirs of the lord by the rod to the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor by the rent of     by the year and by other services and customs therefore due and of right accustomed and he made fine and fealty and is admitted the lord's tenant thereof
