to the court came Edm Potter in his proper person and brought forth in full court a certain licence and prayed the same to be enrolled the tenor whereof followeth in these words viz be it know to all men by these presents that I Roger Harlakenden esq lord of the manor aforesaid have licenced and by these presents do give full power liberty and licence unto Edm Potter of Earls Colne aforesaid yeoman to fell dig stub up root up all the elms and apple trees now standing and growing in and upon the orchard of his customary tenement called Dynes holden of the said manor of Earls Colne or in or near unto the hedges pales and other the fences of the said orchard and the same trees so felled digged stubbed or rooted up to convert and employ to his own use and behoof and these presents to be enrolled at the next c ourt to be holden for my said manor shall be his sufficient warrant in that behalf given under my hand and seal at Colne Priory this 15.12.36Eliz1
