answer of Rich Harlakenden sworn before Robt Riche (this is virtually the same as the answer in C3.372.8 so abbreviated) says that Jeff Cuckoke at that time in the bill mentioned was in his life seised of Curds etc held of the manors of Earls Colne and Colne Priory this defendant son and heir of Roger Harlakenden esq is now lord and owner of the manors and the said Jeff Cuckoke being thereof seised did as this defendant hath heard by his last will and testament bearing date 14.1.1585 devise the said lands and tenements to the complainant and her heirs and gave her also by his said will during her life all the lands and tenements and hereditaments in Birch and after her decease to Jn his eldest son and to his heirs and gave to her also as hath been credibly reported certain others lands and tenements amounting in the whole to the yearly value of 50li or thereabouts etc
