taken at Stratford Langthorne in Essex 6.6.8Chas1 before Arth Jarvis esq escheator of the king for the said county by virtue of letters for the inquisition on the lunatic Margt Harlakenden widow to the said escheator directed held on the oath of Ralph Cheynye Rich Cox Thos Alden Jn Pargrave Jas Trafoord Ralph Barker Thos Garnett Jas Merryman Humph Lee Thos Mortimer Peter Austin Rich Cobham Jas Balden and Thos Pollard and they say on oath that the said Margt Harlakenden in the bill named by the space of six months since the time of the inquisition is a lunatic and is lucid in intervals not capable of holding her goods and chattels and she was deemed a lunatic 1.12.last by visitation of god and not otherwise as is shown by the inquisition and the jury say on their oath that the said Margt Harlakenden in the bill named at the time of an earlier inquisition dated 6.9.last was seised in demesne as of fee and free tenure for the term of her life in all that messuage called The Little Lodge and all lands meadows pastures and hereditaments belonging with apps containing by estimation 360a and now or late parcel of the disparked park of Earls Colne and parcel of the lands of the manor of Earls Colne now or then existing and in several crofts of land called Lowfields containing by estimation 10a in Earls Colne in the said county the remainder after her decease to Roger Harlakenden gent son of Rich Harlakenden esq and the said Margt late wife of the said Rich deceased and the heirs male of the body of the said Roger legitimately procreated as is shown and the said capital messuage called The Little Lodge and apps in Earls Colne were held of the king as capital messuages by military service and value by the year and reprise of 80li and afterwards the jury say that at the time when she was deemed a lunatic she held no goods and chattels etc and that Rich Harlakenden esq is son and next heir of Margt and aged at the time of the inquisition twenty one years and more and the lands remain with him signed the day and year above written etc
