this indenture made 28.12.1716 witnesseth that Ambrose Stowers and Jn Brewster churchwardens and Hen Adams junior and Joseph Bott overseers of Earls Colne have with the consent of justices of the peace put and placed Thos Crisp a poor child of the parish apprentice to Joseph Tabor of East Donyland oyster dredger and fisherman with him to dwell until he is twenty four years old now being 17years during which term he will serve his master etc and Joseph Tabor covenants to instruct him in the art of an oyster dredger or fisherman and will lodge and feed him and keep the parishioners indemnified and at the end of the term supply him with double apparel etc mark Joseph Tabor witnesses Sam Burton mark Francis Crisp justices of the peace Jn Cressener Jn Wale
