this indenture made 21.1.1719 witnesseth that Jn Hatch and Ambrose Stowers churchwardens and Thos Sewell and Wm Walker overseers of Earls Colne with the consent of justices of the peace have put and placed Joseph Man a poor child of the parish apprentice to Rich Rauck of Tolsbury oyster dredger with him to dwell from this day until aged twenty four years (now aged 16years) during which time to serve his master etc and Rich Rauck covenants to instruct him in the art of an oyster dredger and to lodge and feed him and keep the parishioners indemnified from charges and at the end of the term to provide double apparel etc mark Rich Rauck witnesses Hen Adams junior Sam Chrismas justices of the peace Rich Androwes Jn Wale
