this indenture made 10.11.1720 witnesseth that Jn Hatch and Ambrose Stowers churchwardens and Jn Morley and Hen Jarvis overseers of the poor of Earls Colne have with the consent of justices of the peace put and placed Andrew Cony a poor child of the parish apprentice to Laurance Pye of Bocking bay weaver with him to dwell from this day until aged twenty four years (now aged 14years) during which time to serve his master etc and Laurence Pye covenants to instruct him in the art of bay weaving and lodge and feed him and keep the parishioners indemnified from any charges and at the end of the term to provide him with double apparel etc Laurence Pye witnesses Robt Harris Sam Burton justices of the peace Rich Androwes F Gardiner
