this indenture made 27.6.1722 witnesseth that Jn Hatch and Ambrose Stowers churchwardens and Sam Gyon and Ann Sandall widow overseers of Earls Colne with the consent of justices of the peace have put and placed Robt Bigsbey a poor child of the parish apprentice to Thos Deadman of Great Coggeshall bay weaver with him to dwell from this day until the age of twenty four years (aged now 16years) during which time to serve him etc and Thos Deadman covenants to instruct him in the art of a bay weaver and shall lodge and feed him and indemnify the parishioners from all charges and at the end of the term provide him with double apparel etc mark Thos Deadman witnesses Rich Morris Sam Burton justices of the peace Paisley Rich Androwes
