this indenture made 22.10.1722 witnesseth that Jn Hatch and Ambrose Stowers churchwardens and Sam Gyon and Eliz Sandall overseers of Earls Colne with the consent of justices of the peace have put and placed Joseph Springate alias Love a poor child of the parish apprentice to Jn Pye of Bocking bay weaver with him to dwell from this day until aged twenty four years (now aged 16years) during which time to serve his master etc and Jn Pye covenants to instruct him in the art of bay weaving and lodge and feed him and indemnify the parishioners from any charges and at the end of the term to provide double apparel etc mark Jn Pye witnesses Jn White Sam Burton justices of the peace Paisley W Westen
