in the name of god amen the 16.9.1550 I Jn Poter the elder of White Colne in the diocese of London being whole in mind and good memory thanks be to god do ordain and make this my last will and testament in this form following first I bequeath my soul unto almighty god the father the son and the holy ghost three persons and one god in christ and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Colne aforesaid item I bequeath unto the poor folks in the said parish     item I give and bequeath unto Robt my son his heirs and assigns all those my tenements and lands pastures and meadows that I do now hold and occupy in mine own hands except and reserving all those my fields and Franklein Land and Reding the said Robt his heirs executors and administrators to pay unto Alice my wife his mother yearly out of the said tenements and lands 26s8d during her life natural for her third part or dowry therein item I give and bequeath unto Wm my son his heirs and assigns all those my tenements and lands that now Jn Royce doth hold of me in farm item I give and bequeath unto the same Wm by the licence of my right honourable earl of Oxenford all those my copy grounds and bushets# called Redings to him his heirs and assigns the same Wm his heirs and executors and administrators to pay unto his said mother out of the said tenement and lands yearly during her life natural for her third part or dowry therein 13s4d item I give and bequeath unto young Jn my son his heir and assigns all those my yards lands and fields called Colldhinfeld and Frankliens Land with my field called Peryfelds now in the hands of Jn Smyth the same Jn his heirs executors and administrators to pay unto the said Alice his mother during her life natural for her third part or dowry in the said lands 13s4d which (torn) payments to the said Alice my wife I will that she shall have them as before is specified upon condition that she nor none in her name never vex nor trouble with my said sons nor with none of them for her third part or dowry or else she not to have the forenamed payments item I will that my said feoffees to deliver estates to my said sons in and of my said tenements and lands under the form of law according to this my last will and testament item I will that my said sons shall enter upon all these parts of my said tenements and lands at michaelmas a twelve month next after my decease with all such tilth thereupon without any waste of timber or wood thereupon before made by my said wife or any therein forenamed item I give and bequeath to each and every of my eight daughters Alice Ellen Agnes Xian Joan Margt Isabel and Rose 5li of lawful money of England to be paid to every one of them by mine executors when they shall come to their several ages of 18yr and at the day of their marriage so that so that any of them do marry before that they do come to said age and if it fortune that any of my said daughters to decease before they be married or do come to the said age then I will that their part or parts so deceased to be equally divided amongst the others of the sisters then living item I will that none of my said two sons Wm and Jn shall not sell their part or parts in and of the said tenements and lands but only to their brother the said Robt so that he will give as much as any other for it if not then by his assent to make sale thereof at their will if they or any of them be so minded to sell by his life the residue of all my goods as well (torn) chattels as implements and household stuff on and besides my debts to (torn) my last will and testament to be truly performed I give and bequeath (torn) Alice my wife whom I do ordain and make mine executrix (torn)
