in the name of god amen the 12.5.1590 I Wm Catt of Earls Colne in the county of Essex being sick in body but perfect and whole in mind laud and praise be to almighty god do make and ordain my testament containing my said will in manner and form following first I commit my soul to the father that made me to the son that redeemed me and the holy ghost that sanctifieth me and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Earls Colne imprimis I give to Roger my son all my wearing apparel both for holy days and working days also I will that the bench board and the settle shall remain in the house all the rest of my goods and movables my debts paid and my body honestly brought into the ground I give to Mary my wife whom I make and ordain my only and sole executrix to this my last will and testament and if she leave any of these goods and movables unspent that then they be equally divided amongst all my children unto which will I have put my hand and seal the day and year above written signed sealed and delivered in the presence of us Wm Adhams clerk and Robt Clarke mark Wm Catt proved 1.8.1590
