3.10.1594 in the name of god amen I Jn Skott of the parish of Earls Colne and in the diocese of London being sick in body but whole in mind thanks be to god do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following first I give and bequeath my soul unto god the father my creator and jesus christ my redeemer and to god the holy ghost three persons and one god in trinity in whom I trust to be saved by etc and my body to be buried in the parish churchyard of Earls Colne aforesaid item I give and bequeath to Elinor my wife all my movable goods chattels and cattle whatsoever they be or to me in any manner belonging towards the bringing up of my children and she to bestow amongst them what she may spare or see good and according as she shall think good or may spare to my children Rich Benet and Wm Skott and Annyse Elynor and Ansella Skott my daughters item I will and bequeath to Elinor my wife the term and years in my house yet to come she paying the lord's rent of the same house where now I dwell in provided always that if Elinor my wife fortune to die seised without will that then all such movable goods as were mine that she spareth shall be divided amongst my children aforenamed part and part alike item I make Elinor my wife my sole executrix of this my last will and testament and to bring my body to the earth according to christian use etc item I ordain and make Hen Stonard my brother in law overseer of this my last will in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand the 3.10.1594 mark Jn Skott Wm Tomsonne of Patizwike mark Wm Smith mark Thos Smith (may be Thos Smith)
