in the name of god amen the 10.8.1597 etc I Thos Cryspe of Earls Colne in the county of Essex shearman do ordain and make this my last will and testament in manner and form following first especially I commit my soul into the hands of almighty god my only saviour creator and redeemer by whose personal death and bloodshedding I trust and am fully assured to have free pardon and full remission and forgiveness of all my sins and my body to be buried within the churchyard of Earls Colne abovesaid at the discretion of my executrix hereunder written item I do give and bequeath unto my nephew Jn Dykes all that my messuage or tenement wherein I now do dwell called or know of Wolves or by any other name or names whatsoever to have and to hold to him the said Jn Dykes and his heirs immediately after the decease of Eliz the wife of me the said Thos item I do give and bequeath unto the said Eliz my wife all my movable goods chattels and household stuff whatsoever upon condition that she shall pay my debts and bring my body decently to the earth provided always and my full mind and intent is that my said wife within two months after my decease shall make seal and deliver a deed of feoffment to the said Jn Dyke and his heirs of my said messuage or tenement to hold to him and his heirs immediately after the decease of my said wife and if she shall refuse to make the said deed of feoffment to the said Dykes and his heirs contrary unto my mind and meaning or if she my said wife shall refuse to prove this my will and testament then my whole intent mind and meaning is that the said Jn Dykes shall be my sole executor and prove this my will and testament and dispossess my wife from all my said movable goods and household whatsoever in witness whereof hereunto I have set my hand and seal the day and year abovesaid sealed and delivered in the presence of us mark Robt Reade Robt Rookes
