in the name of god amen the 1.4.1603 I Humph Brocke of Much Waltham in the county of Essex yeoman being sick in body but of good and perfect memory thanks to god therefore do make and declare this my present last will and testament in manner and form following first I humbly yield and commend my soul into the merciful hands of almighty god trusting to be saved by the merits of christ's passion and as touching my worldly substance I give and bequeath the same as followeth item I give to the poor of Much Canfield 10s to be paid unto them within one month after my decease and to the poor people of Little Lighes other 10s to be paid to them within one month after my decease item whereas my cousin Wm Brocke of little Lighes hath in keeping the sum of 10li of my money I do give and bequeath the same to Robt my son if he be alive and if he be not living then I will it shall be equally divided amongst his children and my will is that my said cousin Wm Brocke shall pay and deliver the same to the use aforesaid to my said son or his children or his or their assigns as soon after my decease as conveniently he may and that the said 10li shall never come into the hands or dealing of my executrix item I will and devise give to my said son Robt if he be living the sum of 10li of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto him by executrix within one year after my decease and if my said son be not living then I will that my executrix shall pay it to his child or children or his or their assigns within the time aforesaid item I give to my said son one feather bed which I have at Canfield and two of my best kettles there and two pair of sheets and half my pewter there and two or three pillows to be delivered to him or to his children or their deputies immediately after my decease item I to Wm Brocke of Little Lighes my cousin my bald gelding item the residue of all my goods and chattels and movables whatsoever my debts and legacies being paid I give and bequeath to Agnes my wife whom I make and ordain my sole executrix of this my last will and testament requiring her to prove the same and to execute it according to the true meaning hereof and I appoint mr Buckley of Little Lighes overseer of this my will and he to have for his pains taking therein 2s6d in witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seal the day and year above written the mark of Humph Brocke these bearing witness Jn Younge and Robt Everard
