in the name of god amen the 29.6.1603 etc. I Jn Somersom of Earls Colne in the county of Essex husbandman being sick in body but of good and perfect remembrance thanks be god do ordain and make this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say first I bequeath my soul into the hands of almighty god my maker and saviour assuredly trusting to receive forgiveness of my sins and my body to be buried in the parish churchyard of Earls Colne aforesaid by mine executrix item I give and bequeath unto Ann Somersom my wife all that my house and lands being customary with all the barns stables and outhouses with the appurtenances thereunto belonging lying in Earls Colne aforesaid to her and her assigns during the term of her natural life and after her decease I will the said house and lands with the appurtenances to be sold by Hen Somersom and Edw Somersom my sons and their assigns with in the space of two whole years next after her decease to the most profit and advantage and I will that the money thereof coming to be evenly and equally divided and distributed to and amongst so many of my children that shall then be living that is to say Jn Somersom Hen Somersom Edw Somersom Fran Somersom Marge Somersom Marie Somersom and Anne Somersom and if it fortune that any of my children do depart this natural life before the sale of my said house and lands that then his her or their part or parts so dying to be equally distributed to and amongst the rest that shall be then living item I will that Anne Somersom my wife shall have all my movable goods utensils cattle and chattels whatsoever towards the bringing up of my children and the performance of this my will and the dischargement of my debts item I will that the profits of my house and lands with the appurtenances after the decease of Anne my wife until the sale thereof to be divided equally amongst my children that shall be then living by the said Hen Somersom and Edw Somersom or their assigns I will that if it fortune that Jn Somersom Hen Somersom and Edw Somersom my sons or any one of them be able to buy and purchase the said house and lands that then or any of them shall have it 40s under the price that another will give my son Jn Somersom to have the first offer and refusal of the same without fraud covin or deceit item I give and bequeath unto Marge Somersom my daughter the sum of 40s of lawful money of England within one year next after my decease to be paid by mine executrix item I give and bequeath unto Marge Huntsman my goddaughter the sum of 3s4d of lawful english money within one year next after my decease to be paid by mine executrix I do ordain and constitute Anne Somersom my wife my sole executrix of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year abovesaid mark Jn Somersom sealed and delivered as his last will and testament in presence of Rich Parker Robt Rookes Wm Dashe mark Chas Huntsman
