in the name of god amen the 10.11.1605 I Jn Pennyfather the elder of Earls Colne in the county of Essex yeoman being sick in body but of perfect mind and remembrance thanks be given to god do ordain and make this my testament containing therein my last will in manner and form following viz I commit my soul to almighty god the father the son and the holy ghost and my body to the earth from whence it came item I give and bequeath to Jn Pennyfather my son my gridiron and firepan item I give to Grace Newton my chest standing in the hall item I give to Wm Adhams the younger my best feather bed my coverlet bolster and all things belonging to the same and two pewter platters and my best cupboard all the rest of my movable goods whatsoever unbequeathed my debts paid my body honestly brought to the ground I give and bequeath to Joan my daughter the wife of Wm Adhams minister of Earls Colne whom I make my only executor to this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have put my hand and seal the day and year first above written mark Jn Pennyfather
