in the name of god amen the 24.12.1611 etc. I Thos Anderson of Earls Colne in the county of Essex and diocese of London yeoman being sick in body but of perfect memory thanks be given to almighty god do ordain and make this my present testament declaring thereby my last will in manner and form following first I commend my soul unto the hands of almighty god my creator with an assured faith and confidence of eternal life and blessedness amongst all the elect saints through the merit of jesus christ my saviour and redeemer and my body I will to be decently buried in christian burial at the discretion of mine executor and for the ordering and disposing that portion of worldly goods wherewith it hath pleased god of his goodness to bless me first I give and bequeath to mrs Margt Harlakenden my mistress 10s item I give and bequeath to mrs Mabell Stoner wife of Clem Stoner esq 10s item I give and bequeath to mrs Jane Lawson 10s item I give and bequeath to mr Thos Harlakenden 10s and to every one of his children 6s8d apiece item I give to mr Geo Harlakenden of Nether Yeldham 10s and to Wm Harlakenden his son 6s8d item I give and bequeath to Rich Harlakenden Helen Harlakenden Marie Harlakenden Jane Harlakenden Eliz Harlakenden and Anne Harlakenden sons and daughters of Rich Harlakenden esq my master viz to every of them 6s8d apiece item I give and bequeath to the several persons hereafter named the several sums of money and other things hereafter also expressed that is to say to Robt Cobbe 10s to Kath Greene widow 2s to Thomasine the wife of Hen Abbotte a new shirt and 2s to Jn Pierson 2s6d to Guy Groome and Grace his wife 2s apiece to Jn Graunte my tenant 14s6d to the poor of the parish of Earls Colne aforesaid 4li whereof I will 40s to be distributed amongst them at the time of my burial at the discretion of mine executor and the other 40s to remain for the increase of a stock towards the relief of the poor people of the said parish forever item I give and bequeath to mr Jn Packinson of Colne Engaine clerk 5s I give to Wm Brande a new shirt and 2s and to Rose Spillman a new shirt and 2s item I give to every other of the servants of Rich Harlakenden esq now servants in the house with me 2s apiece and I will 2s6d to be given amongst the ringers at my burial all the rest of my movable goods debts sums of money and personal rights whatsoever due unto me I give and bequeath unto Roger Harlakenden the son of Rich Harlakenden esq my master and I ordain and make the said Rich Harlakenden esq my master executor of this my present will and testament and I give unto him for his pains and burdens herein the sum of 10s in witness that this is my last will I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written in the presence of the witnesses whose names are hereunder written Thos Piggott Robt Cobbe Thos Anderson
