in the name of god amen the 26.12.1626 I Rose Church of Earls Colne in the county of Essex widow late the wife of Jn Church of the same town gent being sick in body but in good and perfect remembrance I do thank god therefore do declare and make this my last will and testament in manner and form following first and principally I surrender and bequeath my soul into the hands of almighty god and his blessed son jesus christ my only saviour and redeemer by whose precious bloodshedding upon the cross I do steadfastly hope to have remission of all my sins my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be decently buried in the church of Earls Colne aforesaid by my said husband item I do give unto Mary my eldest daughter the wife of Wm Sidey of Bures gent my best gown and best kirtle and my stone pot lipped with silver and footed with silver and gilt and one spurryall and I do give to her daughter Margt a pair of holland sheets a long tablecloth of housewives cloth and a damask towel item I do give unto Mary Townsend my grandchild my casting sheet three pillowberes of holland wrought a golden whistle which was my mother's I give her during her life but after her decease I give the same to Mary her daughter and my will and mind is that the said Mary Townsend shall lend the said casting sheet and three pillowberes of holland to Jane my daughter when she shall have occasion to use the same in childbed item I do give unto Rose my daughter three pairs of canvas sheets three short towels one long one a frying pan a gridiron a little spit a short footed brass pot with the pot lid a trammel two pewter dishes one of my gowns a lockram pillowbere and I do give unto her daughter Rose a housewife sheet laced and stitched a face kerchief two pillowberes and a feather down pillow and I do give unto my said daughter Rose a warming pan a cliver and a pair of pot hooks item I do give unto Eliz Church my son Jn's daughter my silver bowl item I do give unto Wm Sidey my grandchild a featherbed a bolster a pillow and a coverlet of yarn and I do give unto my grandchild Edw Freman half an dozen of silver spoons item all the rest and residue of my household stuff goods and chattels whatsoever not before by me given or bequeathed I do give and bequeath unto Jane my daughter whom I do ordain and make sole executrix of this my last will and testament requiring and charging her to see my body decently buried as is before in this my last will mentioned and to see this my last will truly performed in all points in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written read sealed and subscribed in the presence of Simon Ive mark Robt Enews mark Israel Enews mark Rose Church
