in the name of god amen the 22.2.1640 I Robt Crowe of Earls Colne in the county of Essex yeoman calling to mind the certainty of death the end of every living creature and the uncertainty of the hour thereof and therefore having a special care now whilst my senses perfectly serve me I do thank god therefore to dispose those temporal blessings whereof almighty god of his merciful goodness hath lent me the use in this transitory life do ordain and make this my last will and testament in manner and form following first and principally I surrender and bequeath my soul into the hands of almighty god and his blessed son jesus christ my only saviour and redeemer by whose precious bloodshedding upon the cross I do steadfastly hope to have remission of all my sins my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be decently buried according to my degree item I do give unto Robt Crow my son all that my copyhold messuage or tenement in Earls Colne aforesaid with the appurtenances now in the tenure or occupation of Rich Brock to have and to hold to him and his heirs upon condition that the said Robt his heirs or assigns shall pay or cause to be paid to Ann my daughter 10s yearly during the term of three years next after my decease and shall also pay unto her 20li of lawful money of England within three years next after my decease at or in the south porch of the parish church of Earls Colne abovesaid and if the said Robt his heirs or assigns shall make default of payment of the said 20li in manner and form aforesaid to be paid then I do give unto the said Ann my daughter the said messuage and other the said premises to have and to hold to her and her assigns for and during the term of five years next ensuing such default of payment item after the said five years ended I do give the foresaid messuage and other the said premises unto the said Robt and his heirs upon condition that the said Robt his heirs or assigns shall pay unto Giles my son 20li of lawful money of England within three years next after that the said Robt his heirs or assigns shall have paid to the said Ann 20li as aforesaid or within three years next after that the said Ann hath enjoyed the said messuage and other the said premises for the term of five years according to the true intent and meaning of this my last will and testament item all my goods and chattels whatsoever I do give unto the said Robt my son to the intent that he may the better perform this my last will and testament requiring and charging him truly to perform the same in witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seal the day and year abovesaid sealed subscribed and published as his last will and testament in the presence of Simon Ive Ann Ive Robt Crow
