in the name of god amen I Thos Allen of Earls Colne in the county of Essex fishmonger and in the diocese of London sick in body but of good and perfect memory thanks be given unto almighty god do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following first I give and bequeath my soul unto the hands of almighty god my creator and redeemer trusting assuredly through the merits of my lord and saviour jesus christ to have full pardon and remission of my sins sand offences and for those worldly goods which it hath pleased god to bless me with all I give and bequeath in manner and form following viz item I give and bequeath unto Eliz Allen my now wife one great joined cupboard one featherbed one bolster two pillows two blankets a coverlet and a pair of sheets and the bedstead on which I now lie rookesses# kettle a glass case a table the middle posnet a spit a gridiron a frying pan a cobiron a long andiron a chair a cradle and all there to belonging a wheel a reel the child's chair a flour sieve the wool bag three of the least pewter platters a white box one joined stool and all the frint# to be delivered to my said wife paying 2s8d item I give unto Susan Roore my grandchild 2s to be paid unto her within six months next after my decease item I give and bequeath unto Thos Allen my son all that freehold tenement which is now or late were in the occupation of Sam Creake or the widow Layer with their appurtenances and to his heirs forever item I give and bequeath unto Jn Allen my other son all that my copyhold tenement with the appurtenances called Seabrights or by any other name with their and every of their appurtenances to the said Jn and his heirs forever item I give and bequeath unto Joan Creeke the wife of Sam Creeke my daughter both my mares all the hay seven flitches of bacon two brass pots three kettles all the wood that is spared the trundlebed two pairs of sheets two pillowberes a trammel a saltbox and all other my goods household stuff implements of household stuff whatsoever and all debts duties bonds and bills whatsoever that is due unto me from any person or persons whatsoever and I ordain and make my said daughter Joan Creeke executor of this my last will and testament and the said Joan my executor shall receive all the rents issues and profits of the same houses for and towards the payments of my debts and bringing up of my children until they shall accomplish their several ages of 21yr and if either of my said children sons Thos or Jn Allen shall happen to die or depart this life before they shall accomplish their several ages as aforesaid my will and mind is that my said executor Joan Creeke shall have the tenement or tenements of either or both of them that shall so happen to die or depart this life and the same premises to be and to remain to the said Joan and her heirs forever and if the said Joan shall happen to refuse and revolt from her executorship then my will and mind is that Jn Rushbrooke shall have the said goods and benefits and profits of the said tenements as aforesaid to pay my debts and legacies discharge my funeral rites and paid for the children as aforesaid and if both or either of them shall happen to depart as aforesaid then the tenement or tenements of one or both of them to be and remain unto the said Jn Rushbrooke and his heirs forever in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 16.2.1640 etc read sealed published and delivered in the presence of us by me Jn Reade jun mark Jn Stevens mark Thos Allen
