the elder of Earls Colne in the county of Essex yeoman and in the diocese of London being sick in body but of good and perfect memory thanks be given unto almighty god do make this my last will and testament declaring thereby and therein my full mind and purpose in manner and form following first and principally I give and commend my soul into the hands of almighty god my maker and creator with an assured trust and confidence through the death passion and merit of my lord and saviour jesus christ to have full pardon and remission of all my sins and offences and for those worldly goods tenements and lands in which it hath pleased god of his great goodness to bless me withal item I give and bequeath unto

my son all my lands and tenements with their and every their appurtenances lying and being in Earls Colne abovesaid all which lands are holden of the manor of the Priory and my house and orchard doth hold of the manor of Gilberts also in Earls Colne to him the said

and to his heirs forever
lawfully begotten and for want of such heirs after the decease of the said

my mind and will is that all my said lands and tenements with their appurtenances shall be sold to the best advantage and equally be divided among my children and children's children that then shall be living
memo that these three lines which are erased out was done before the said
