in the name of god amen the 1.8.1660 I Wm Brand of Earls Colne in the county of Essex yeoman being aged frail and weak in body but of good and perfect mind and remembrance I give god thanks therefore I do make ordain and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following and I do herein and hereby utterly renounce and revoke all and every other will and wills by me heretofore made whatsoever first and principally I commit and commend my soul into the merciful hands of almighty god the father my creator and to his forever blessed and beloved son jesus christ my only redeemer and to the holy ghost my only comforter and my body to the earth from whence it came to be decently buried according to my degree and for that part and portion of worldly goods where with it hath pleased god out of his favour and love to endow me withal here in this transitory life I do give and bequeath as followeth first I give and bequeath unto Mary my well beloved wife all my three parcels of copyhold land with their and every of their appurtenances called by the name of Gosen or otherwise Gosses all holden of the manor of Colne Priory by copy of court roll containing by estimation 7a be they more or less lying and being in the several parishes of White Colne and Colne Engaine in the said county of Essex for and during the full term of her natural life and after her death I do give and bequeath all the said three parcels of land with their and every of their appurtenances called Gosen or otherwise Gosses unto Jeff the son of Jn Walker and Kath his now wife of Chelmesford in the said county blacksmith farrier my kinswoman's son and unto Ann Brewer my said wife's youngest daughter and to the heirs and assigns of the said Jeff Walker and Ann Brewer to be equally parted and divided between them part and part like and I will and my true intent and meaning is that if it shall happen that either of them shall die and depart out of this life before the said Mary my wife that then I do give and bequeath his or her part so dying unto the survivor or longest liver of them and to their heirs and assigns of the said survivor or longest liver forever secondly I give and bequeath unto the said Kath Walker my kinswoman the full sum of 5li of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto her within six months next ensuing after my death by mine executrix upon her lawful demand of the same thirdly I give and bequeath unto Hen Neale my sister's son the full sum of 5li of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto him within six months next ensuing after my death by mine executrix upon his lawful demand of the same fourthly I give and bequeath unto Mary the daughter of Robt Neale my sister's son's daughter the full sum of 20s of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto her within three months next ensuing after my death by mine executrix upon her lawful demand of the same fifthly I give and bequeath unto Dan Llewellin the elder my sister's son the full sum of 5li of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto him within six months next ensuing my death by mine executrix upon his lawful demand of the same sixthly I give and bequeath unto Dan Llewellin the younger his son the full sum of 20s of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto him upon his lawful demand of the same by mine executrix seventhly I give and bequeath unto Ralph Josselin vicar of the said parish the full sum of 40s of good and lawful money of England to preach at my burial eighthly I give and bequeath unto the poor people of the said parish the full sum of 40s of good and lawful money of England to be distributed amongst them at the discretion of mine under named executrix all the rest of my goods chattels cattle and implements or utensils whatsoever or wheresoever unbequeathed my debts and legacies being paid and my body decently buried I do give and bequeath unto the said Mary my well beloved wife whom I do make and ordain to be my only sole executrix to this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day month and year above written sealed acknowledged published and declared to be his last will and testament in the presence of us Rich Harlakenden Wm Adams write r Wm Harlakenden Wm Brande
