in the name of god amen the 20.7.1667 etc. I Edm Potter of Earls Colne in the county of Essex malt meal maker being aged and frail in body but of good and perfect mind and remembrance I give god thanks therefore I do make ordain and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following and I do herein and hereby utterly renounce and revoke all and every other will and wills by me heretofore made whatsoever first and principally I commit and commend my soul into the hands of almighty god the father my creator and to his forever blessed and beloved son jesus christ my only redeemer and to the holy ghost my only comforter sanctifier and preserver and my body to the earth from whence it came to be decently buried in christian sepulchre according to my degree and for that part and portion of worldly goods wherewith it hath pleased god out of his free favour and love to endow me withal here in this transitory life I do give and bequeath as followeth imprimis I give and bequeath unto Eliz Busby my eldest daughter the full sum of 10li of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto her within three months next after my death out of mine estate item I give and bequeath unto Edw Warrin her eldest son my grandchild the full sum of 40li of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto him so soon as he attains to the age of 21yr by mine executors item I give and bequeath unto Robt Warrin her youngest son and my grandchild the full sum of 40li of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto him so soon as he shall attain to the age of 21yr by mine executors item I give and bequeath unto Ann Warrin the daughter of the said Eliz and my grandchild the full sum of 40li of like lawful money of England to be paid unto her so soon as she shall attain to the age of 21yr or day of marriage which shall first happen by mine executors item I give to Eliz Warrin the youngest daughter of the said Eliz Warrin my grandchild the full sum of 40li of lawful money of England to be paid unto her so soon as she shall attain to the age of 21yr or day of marriage which shall first happen by mine executors item I give and bequeath Ann the now wife of Jon Clarke my daughter the full sum of 60li of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto her within six months next after my death by mine executors item I give and bequeath unto Jon Clarke her eldest son my grandchild the full sum of 40li of lawful money of England to be paid unto him so soon as he shall attain to his age of 21yr by mine executors item I give and bequeath unto Wm Clarke my grandchild the full sum of 40li of lawful money of England to be paid unto him so soon as he shall attain to the age of 21yr by mine executors item I give and bequeath unto Edm Clarke my grandchild the full sum of 40li of lawful money of England to be paid unto him so soon as he shall attain to the age of 21yr by mine executors and also my will and intent is if any of the three grandchildren shall happen to die before they shall attain to the age of 21yr that then I do give and bequeath their part so dying to the longest liver or livers of them to be equally divided and paid by my executors as aforesaid item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Norden the now wife of Hen Norden the full sum of 100li upon condition that mine executors shall pay unto my daughter Mary the sum of 5li of good and lawful money of England every year during her natural life for the use and interest thereof and if the said Mary shall happen to die without children that then my intent and meaning is that the 100li given and bequeathed shall be equally divided and parted between Eliz Busby's children before mentioned and Jon Clarke's but if the said Mary shall have any of her own body that then my intent and meaning is the money before mentioned shall be equally divided between them to so many as shall be alive after her death also my intent and meaning is that if any of the four grandchildren children of Eliz Busby my daughter shall happen to die before they attain to the age of 21yr that then I do give and bequeath his of their part so dying to the longest livers to be equally divided and parted between them item I give unto Xian Goodwin widow my beloved sister 40s of lawful money of England item I give to Jn Goodwin 40s of lawful money of England item I give to Eliz Goodwin 40s of lawful money of England item I give to Mary Goodwin 40s of lawful money of England to be paid by mine executors item I give and bequeath to my sister Rushe's children 40s to so many as be alive of them of lawful money of England to be paid by mine executors item I give and bequeath to the poor of this parish 5li of good and lawful money of England to be distributed at the discretion of my executors out of which paid sum of 5li I will that Frances Bound's widow and Eliz Rosbrooke singlewoman shall have 10s apiece and I do make and ordain Geo Crisner gent and Jas Brockwell executors to this my last will and testament and I do make and ordain Jon Clarke my son in law supervisor for this my last will and testament to see it performed and kept in every thing according to my true intent and meaning in everything in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day month and year above written sealed acknowledged published and declared to be his
