in the name of god amen the 3.1.1679 I Wm Boosbey of Earls Colne in the county of Essex tailor being sick in body but of good and perfect mind and memory thanks be unto god therefore and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that is appointed for all men once to die do make constitute and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say first and principally I recommend and give my soul into the hands of the almighty god who gave it me and my body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in christian and decent manner in the parish churchyard of Earls Colne aforesaid nothing doubting but at the general day of resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of god and as touching such worldly goods or estate wherewith it hath pleased to god to bless me withal in this like I give devise and bequeath and dispose the same in manner and form following first I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Eliz Boosbey all and singular my copyhold messuage or tenement commonly called and known by the name of Bearcroft or by whatsoever other name or names the same or any part thereof hath heretofore been called with the appurtenances thereunto belonging now in tenure or occupation of Jas Markham and Jn Crismas situate lying and being in Earls Colne aforesaid keeping the said messuage or tenement with the appurtenances in good and sufficient repair during the term until my son Wm Boosbey shall attain unto the age of 21yr and then the said messuage or tenement to be to my son Wm Boosbey and his heirs forever but if it shall happen that the said Wm Boosbey shall depart this life before he shall attain unto the age of 21yr then it is my will that the said messuage or tenement with the appurtenances thereunto belonging to be sold and equally divided amongst so many of his brothers and sisters as shall then be living only reserving to my wife one of the tenements which she shall best like and chose to dwell in during her natural life keeping it in repairs and after her decease then to return to my son Wm Boosbey if he be then living if not to his heirs aforementioned further it is my will that if it shall happen that Eliz my wife by sickness or lameness shall be in want provided that my son Wm Boosbey be deceased shall sell the said house for maintenance for her also I give unto my son Wm Boosbey the sum of 15li of lawful money of England which shall be left in Wm Webb's hands of Gaines Colne in the county of Essex maltster the said 15li to be paid as following that is to say when he is fitting for a trade 5li to bind him out and the remaining 10li when he shall attain to the age of 21yr also it is my will that my said wife shall have the interest of the said 15li during the term or time until the said money be due and payable also I give and bequeath unto my wife the sum of 5li of lawful money of England to trade and make use of until (next few words crossed out and written in several times) and then the said 5li shall be to pay the fine of the said messuage or tenement with the appurtenances also I give and bequeath unto my son Wm two silver spoons the one value of 7s and the other of the value of eight groats also it is my will that my wife shall sell my wearing apparel boots shoes and hats and with the money buy such necessaries as my son shall want also there is 12y of broad cloth I desire my son may have a comely suit of for holy days and another for working days and the remainder to be sold and the money thereof to buy him other necessaries also I give more to my son Wm when he comes of age one bedstead in the hall chamber next to the chimney a featherbed bolster pillow blankets coverlet curtains and valance and all other necessaries as it stands and his grandfather's cupboard and of all the best of my goods and chattels not yet bequeathed I do make Eliz my wife my free and sole executrix and the aforesaid Wm Webb my supervisor of this my will and I hereby utterly disannul revoke and annul all and every other former wills legacies bequests and executors by me in any wise before this time make willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the said Wm Boosbey in the presence of Jn Bagshawe mark Mary Potter mark Ann Harkshall mark Wm Boosbey
