in the name of god amen I Jn Cooke of Earls Colne in the county of Essex yeoman being sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to god do make this my last will and testament in manner following hereby revoking all former wills by me made first and principally I commend my soul into the hands of almighty god my most merciful creator hoping to be saved through the alone merits of jesus christ my most gracious redeemer and my body I desire may be decently buried at the discretion of my executors herein after named and as to that worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased god to bless me I dispose thereof as followeth to wit first I give and devise unto my eldest son Jn Cooke for and during the term of his natural life all that my copyhold messuage or tenement with the orchards lands and appurtenances thereunto belonging situate lying and being in Colne Wake in the said county of Essex and holden of the manor of Colne Wake which I purchased of Wm Creffeild and also all that my copyhold cottage or tenement now two tenements with the appurtenances in Colne Wake aforesaid now or late in the several occupations of Thos Kendall and Dan Merrils and holden of the said manor of Colne Wake and after the decease of my said son Jn Cooke I give and devise the said copyhold messuage or tenement with the orchards and appurtenances unto Jn Cooke his son and his heirs forever and after the decease of my said son Jn Cooke I give and devise all that my said copyhold cottage or tenement now two tenements with the appurtenances unto Eliz Cooke his daughter and her heirs forever also I give and devise unto my son Edw Cooke for and during the term of his natural life all that my copyhold cottage or tenement with the orchard and appurtenances thereunto belonging commonly called Rushpitts or otherwise now in the occupation of Jn Scoefeild and holden of the manor of Earls Colne or Colne Priory he keeping the same in good and tenantable repair and after the decease of my said son Edw Cooke I give and devise the same premises unto Sarah Cooke his daughter and to the heirs of her body lawfully to be begotten and for default of such issue to my own right heirs item I give and devise unto my daughter Mary Cooke and her heirs forever all that my copyhold messuage or tenement with the lands and appurtenances thereunto belonging situate lying and being in Earls Colne aforesaid and now in the occupation of Jon Goslin and holden of the manor of Colne Priory which I lately purchased of mrs Eliz Stebbing Benj Ellis and Wm Cressall and my will and meaning is that my executors herein after named shall receive and take to their own use and uses all such rent and rents as shall be due for my aforesaid messuages cottages and tenements at ladyday next all the rest and residue of my goods chattels bills bonds mortgages cattle corn stock household stuff ready monies and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever after my debts legacies funeral charges and probate of this my will shall be satisfied paid and discharged I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Cooke and unto my said daughter Mary Cooke to be equally divided between them share and share alike and lastly I do nominate and appoint the said Joseph Cooke and Mary Cooke executor and executrix of this my last will and testament also I give unto my said son Edw Cooke the sum of 3li to be paid unto him within one year next after my decease in witness whereof I the said Jn Cooke the testator have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the 14.11.1733 signed sealed published and declared by the testator abovenamed in our presence and in his presence attested and subscribed by us Jeff Scott Jn Bowls S Grimston mark Jn Cooke
